How It Works

From a first conversation to care at home.

You don’t need everything figured out before you reach out. We’ll walk you through it.

A no-pressure conversation

Call us or email us. We’ll listen to what’s going on — the worries, the practical concerns, what’s changed recently. We answer your questions. No commitment, no pressure. Many families call us once, take some time to think, and call back later. That’s fine.

A free in-home assessment

We come to your loved one’s home (or wherever they are) and spend time understanding the full picture: their health, their preferences, their daily routine, the layout of the home, any safety concerns. We meet them. We meet you. We build a care plan that fits the actual situation — not a generic one.

A careful caregiver match

Once we know what care looks like, we match a caregiver based on skills, personality, schedule, and the kind of presence your loved one will be comfortable with. We introduce them — sometimes in person, sometimes by phone — before the first shift. Care often starts within a few days. Sometimes the same day if needed.

After Care Begins

We don’t disappear after the first day.

Most of the work of running a good care relationship is in the ongoing weeks and months. Here’s what to expect.

Regular check-ins

We check in with you and with the caregiver on a regular schedule — to catch issues early, adjust the plan if needed, and make sure everyone’s on the same page.

Care plan updates

Needs change. We reassess the care plan at predictable intervals and any time something significant shifts — a hospitalization, a new diagnosis, a fall.

Caregiver coverage

When your regular caregiver needs time off, we have trained backups ready. You’ll know in advance, and we’ll brief the substitute on routines and preferences.

Always reachable

A real person answers the phone, day or night. If something’s urgent, we respond. If something’s a question, we answer it.

Common Questions About Starting

What families ask before they begin.

How quickly can care start?

Often within a few days. For urgent situations — a hospital discharge, an unexpected family emergency — we can sometimes start the same day. The fastest path is to call us and explain the situation.

Is the consultation really free?

Yes. There’s no charge for the initial conversation or the in-home assessment, and there’s no obligation. We’d rather you make an informed decision than feel pressured.

What if my loved one is resistant to the idea of care?

This is one of the most common situations we see. We’re experienced at first meetings with reluctant clients. Our caregivers are trained to start gently, build trust, and let the relationship develop. Most people who were initially resistant end up appreciating the company.

Can we change caregivers if the match isn’t right?

Absolutely. We aim to get the match right the first time, but it doesn’t always happen. Just tell us — we’ll change the caregiver promptly and learn from the feedback. We’re not offended; we’d rather get to the right fit.

What payment options are available?

Private pay, long-term care insurance, VA benefits (where applicable), and Medicaid in some situations. We’ll talk through your options during the consultation. See our payment options page for more.
