24-Hour & Live-In Care

Continuous, around-the-clock care for situations that require constant attention — recovery, advanced needs, or end-of-life support.

When ‘a few hours’ isn’t enough.

Some situations require care that doesn’t stop — overnight wandering, fall risk, post-surgical recovery, advanced dementia, or end-of-life support at home. We offer two models: 24-hour shift care (typically two or three caregivers rotating shifts) and live-in care (one caregiver living in the home).

We’ll help you figure out which model fits best. Shift care is often the right choice for clients who need active care throughout the night. Live-in care can work well when nights are mostly quiet and someone just needs to be nearby. Either way, we cover the full schedule and arrange backups for time off.

Who This Is For

24-hour care is often the right fit when...

The decision to bring in around-the-clock care is usually preceded by a specific event or a steady accumulation of concerns.

  • A recent hospitalization has left your loved one unable to manage alone
  • Falls or near-falls are happening — especially at night
  • Advanced dementia is making safe periods of solitude impossible
  • End-of-life care is needed and the family wants it provided at home
  • Family caregivers are no longer able to cover overnight care

Common Questions

Things families often ask.

What’s the difference between live-in and 24-hour care?

In live-in care, one caregiver stays in the home and is responsible for care during waking hours, with required sleep and meal breaks at night. In 24-hour shift care, two or three caregivers rotate through the day so someone is always awake and actively providing care. Shift care costs more but is appropriate when nights are active.

How quickly can 24-hour care start?

Often within 24-72 hours for non-complex situations. For complex transitions (post-hospital, hospice), we can sometimes start same-day. Call us — we’ll tell you what’s realistic for your situation.

Will I have to coordinate the caregivers myself?

No. Scheduling, shift coverage, backup arrangements, and caregiver communication are all handled by our office. You’ll have a single point of contact for any questions or changes.
